What a scene is

A scene is the look of a circle: what sits behind everyone, and what sits in the middle. Hosts choose a scene per room; they cannot create or change one.

A scene has:

Part Required What it is
Background Yes Image or video filling the space behind the circles
Centre No Image or video in the middle, shown when nobody is speaking
Talking stick image No Shown to the speaker in the talking-stick layout, in place of their own face
Centre video volume No Whether centre video is audible, and how loud. Silent by default
Category No Which group it belongs to. See Scene categories

Background is the only required part. A scene with no centre media simply leaves the middle empty until someone speaks.

Media

Both background and centre take either an image (uploaded or by URL) or a video (a YouTube link). One or the other, not both — choosing a video clears the image and vice versa.

For videos, a thumbnail from the video is used wherever a still is needed, such as the library tile and the room preview.

Centre video volume

Centre video is silent by default, which is almost always right — a circle is people talking. Raise it only for a scene built around ambient sound, and remember it plays for everyone.

Creating one

Add scene, then:

  1. Give it a name — letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores. It cannot clash with an existing scene and cannot be changed afterwards.
  2. Set the background. Until you do, the scene cannot be created.
  3. Optionally set centre media, a talking-stick image, and a category.

The preview beside the form shows the result as you go.

Editing one

Open any scene from the library. Edits save as you make them, and take effect immediately in every room using that scene — including circles happening right now. Take care during hours when people are meeting.

Finding scenes

The library has search and filters — by name, by what the centre holds, by what the background holds, and by category. Filters are reflected in the address bar, so a filtered view can be bookmarked or shared with another admin.

Deleting one

Deleting removes a scene from future choices. Rooms already using it keep working from their stored settings, and historical usage is preserved, but no host can pick it again.

Who can see this

Hosts can browse the library and start rooms from it, but cannot add, edit or delete. Everything on this page is admin-only.
